Services

At Bluebell Family History Research the genealogy service provided can be tailored to your individual needs.  To aid in this Lorna offers an initial 15-minute free chat to establish your objectives and then suggest the best option.

Putting the client’s needs first this may be to provide the name of a researcher known to have significantly more knowledge in the area of review. However, if able to assist, these are just some of the available options that Lorna can provide:

This option would be for a fixed fee, which varies depending on the scope of the investigation, to create a printed family tree.

  • Single ancestor line e.g. paternal line surname only
  • Double ancestor line e.g. family history for two grandparents
  • Full tree showing all four grandparents

For all of these a research report would be included documenting records found in the course of the investigation.

This option would be at an hourly rate and the full research requirements along with initial budget agreed in advance.

It may be possible to find and acquire documents on behalf of a client.  Whether a copy of a document held within an archive that Lorna is able to attend in person, to order a certificate or find details within a record set.  This would be the cost of any purchase plus the time taken depending on requirements discussed in advance.

This option would be at an hourly rate and the research requirements along with initial budget agreed in advance.  With the increase in the use of DNA within genealogical research this is an expanding area of investigation.

The testing company Ancestry has changed its model recently so that without paying extra individuals will not be able to use one of the most useful parts of their results.  However, Lorna has a full access subscription already and at the current time would be in a position to assist with research using the shared matches section.

DNA Test not yet taken – If wanting to take a DNA test Lorna would provide information relating to the available options depending on the companies that can be used, the kind of information you would get from results and ensure comprehension of the potential downsides of going down this route.

DNA Test taken – If a test has already been taken and a client wants guidance with working out what their results mean or for Lorna to use the matches to find connections this is a possibility.  The testing company MyHeritage has just added the option to enable sharing with researchers and so this could be a method of working with a client to work out how they are related to their DNA connections.
