Daniel O’Brien GAVIN (1822 – 1873) and Jane LAWRENCE (1829 – 1874) had ten children and these are the youngest two that died in childhood. However, six others did not live beyond the age of 35.

Charles died of an acute build up of fluid on the brain and under VRAIN will find another entry that had similar cause of death. This was his sister’s daughter and perhaps she recognised the signs.

Gwenllian died from a fever. Presumably their father was busy with work, being Superintendent of the Cardiff Dock Police, because it is actually her thirteen year old brother who was present at her death and the informant.

There were some TB related illnesses in this generation and the one below. The oldest son had died in the house in June 1871 at the age of 24.
