Frank GOOSEY lived in central Northampton and died on 04 November 1953 leaving effects to Walter GOOSEY who is described as a leather dresser.
A Dictionary of Occupational Terms 10 from 1921 gives this as a more general term for other leather work roles but specifically states not related to shoes or boots. Perhaps his work was connected to furniture making instead.
I am surprised as know that Northamptonshire was very much a footwear making area and a number of my family were involved in it around that time. On a side note the film Kinky Boots 11 is based on a family run shoe factory from Earls Barton which is a village found between Northampton and Irchester.
Like the previous review I have just taken the name and date of death and searched Ancestry. Now on this occasion a suggested Family Tree created by someone appears to match the detail.
I would not normally take any notice of them unless struggling to marry up details on the official index transcriptions but on this occasion my eye was drawn immediately to the parents.
I recognise the names so if the other person’s research is accurate Frank GOOSEY is my half first cousin three times removed [1/2 1C 3R] and the common ancestor is my 3x Great Grandfather Thomas William GOOSEY.
It is a half relation as his first wife died young after having two children. He then remarried and had another twelve offspring. Looking at census records relating to them and those around them many are involved in the shoe trade.
Now that name should be familiar as the one starting all this off so it would seem that my 2x Great Grandfather named his son after his father.
So back to the probate list and we have Thomas William GOOSEY and Frank GOOSEY being two half first cousins [1/2 1C] who both died in 1953 although the latter was four decades older.
But how does Walter GOOSEY connect to them as not already in my tree. A FreeBMD search brings up several births of that name that would appear to be the right area so will have to look at all in more depth.

Starting with the youngest one and working back as he is still listed as a worker in 1953. Almost immediately can exclude the Q2 1918 registered entry as died aged 9. It gets sadder as the Q3 1911 one was only a year when he passed away.
The one whose birth is put in Q2 1909 appears in a family tree created by someone who has Alice Maria GOOSEY in it. Now since that appeared to diverge instead of converge with my family will leave any further delving on this group for the moment.
