Goosey Goosey Gander

As shown in the Google Maps 9 plotting of these places below it actually takes the surname further north from Irchester and Higham Ferrers and any familial link would appear further back in time.

In the probate detail there was another GOOSEY but did not find Fred GOOSEY showing up within the census records searched. It advised he is retired so plausibly of a similar age to Alice.

Although, would have expected this to be an abbreviation of Frederick there is the following birth entry in FreeBMD.

Quickly searching the available documents in Ancestry and reviewing information for this name and birth have managed to make the connection.

Fred GOOSEY and Edward GOOSEY were first cousins. All my investigations are showing there are clearly many more people sharing the GOOSEY surname in the county than it would appear initially.

Edward GOOSEY did have a brother called George GOOSEY, who lived to 1955, so that is likely the one mentioned in his probate. Further digging in the records may confirm his employment around that date.

Having failed to find a definitive link to this family will now switch to the second person listed to see if they connect in with my ancestry.
