After stopping for lunch took a drive out to St John’s Commandery. This is an English Heritage property 18 based outside the town. The chapel is the remaining building of a medieval estate run by Knights Hospitaller members.
It was incorporated partly into a farmhouse for a period and dates from the 13th century but sadly seemed quite damp inside and feels like it needs people to use it to keep it going especially since there are more modern rooms at the rear.

All in all had an enjoyable tour and learnt lots about my hometown. Shame that could only go on two days of the events as many more exciting talks and places open other days as well.
